Joan Son fell in love with origami way back in the 1960s and has been exploring the practice ever since. She debuted her art in the windows of Tiffany & Co. in 1993 and has created numerous large scale installations for public and private venues as well as small works for museum shops including the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. The larger framed pieces in her current body of work focus on the geometry under the folds to reveal the luminous below the surface.
Joan returns to her gift works for the holiday and has developed new designs in cards, jewelry, ornaments, bookmarks, totems and small framed works. She is having great fun using the most glorious papers from her collection of 25 years. Click below to see more of Joan's 2020 Holiday Gift Works.
